If do-it-yourself projects will be on the list, The Family Handyman magazine offers its DIY university. Members gain access to the magazine’s experts and hours of  instruction on home repairs and projects to help through project problems or questions a homeowner might have.

New courses are added monthly and offer complete how-to instructions to improve homes, yards and vehicles. Instructors are Family Handyman editors and experts including contractors, plumbers, electricians and others. Course categories include basic skills, electrical, exterior and interior trim, plumbing and outdoor projects.

Courses such as “Be Prepared and Be Safe” offer homeowners information to handle and avoid dire consequences from emergency situations such as fires, storms, plumbing leaks or  burglaries.

Annual membership is $149 with a $14.95 monthly option. Watch a free mini course at mydiyuniversity.com.

Beyond the paid courses, familyhandyman.com is a resource for numerous home-related projects, advice and ideas.
