Details were released that gives N.J. residents a chance to see if they’re in the running for the largest Powerball drawing ever.
It’s now $800 million – and climbing.
The largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history will be up for grabs when the next drawing is held on Saturday.
As of Thursday night, the jackpot total was $675 million, but news reports said it reached $800 million mid-day Friday. Lottery officials say it could surge to $1 billion by Saturday.

The drawing will be held at 10:59 p.m. on Saturday. Powerball and Mega Millions drawings can be seen on WABC-TV stations.
Overcoming the approximately 292.2 million-to-1 odds could give the winner a lump sum of $428.4 million before taxes, according to nj.com.
Eighteen consecutive drawings have passed since a winner in Tennessee took in $144.1 million on Nov. 4, according to the report.
There were seven $50,000 winning New Jersey Lottery tickets sold that matched 4 white balls and the Powerball for the last drawing on Wednesday.
One of those tickets was purchased with the Powerplay option, making it worth $150,000.
The winning numbers for the Jan. 6 drawing were 2, 11, 47, 62, and Powerball 17. The Multiplier number was 3.
The winning tickets were sold at the following locations:
- $150,000 – The Wine Rack, Sutton Plaza, 293 Route 206, Unit 4, Flanders in Morris;
- $50.000 – 7-Eleven #29776 (N), 272 Liberty St., Little Ferry in Bergen County;
- $50,000 – Eickhoff Burlington Associates, 1817 Mt. Holly Rd., Burlington Township., Burlington County;
- $50,000 – Rite Aid #4045, 1434 S. Black Horse Pike, Williamstown in Gloucester County;
- $50,000 – K & S Delicatessen LLC, 299 Danforth Ave., Jersey City in Hudson County;
- $50,000 – Creamridge General Store, 794 Route 537 W., Cream Ridge in Monmouth County;
- $50,000 – 7-Eleven #35894, 375 Brick Blvd., Brick in Ocean County.
In addition to the third prizewinning tickets, there were 347,833 New Jersey players who took home an estimated $1,690,431 in prizes ranging from $4 to $300, according to Lottery Executive Director Carole Hedinger.
“Congratulations to these fortunate lottery players who purchased the winning tickets,” said Hedinger. “These lucky players now join the growing ranks of New Jersey Powerball winners.”
